Pulau Perhentian Kecil Trip, 7th to 9th May, 2010

We planned a trip to Perhentian just 2 weeks before the actual departure date, this trip was also in celebration of Shatish birthday hence we planned a 3 days 2 night trip to Perhentian which included accommodation at Shari-La beach resort(24 hours electricity), 1 breakfast, 2 lunch, 1 normal dinner and 1 BBQ buffet dinner along with snorkeling to 7 different destinations around the island. We decided to drive all the way to Kuala Terengganu and take the ferry from the jetty over at Kuala Besut, which we did and it took a grueling 9 hours to reach due to the trunk roads and coastal roads where we could not drive fast. We paid a total of Rm 290 for the whole trip including booze, which was under everyones budget considering the short notice period and preparation. There were 8 of us who when on this trip and boy we were surprised to see such a destination in our very own country Malaysia. Here are some pictures of Perhentian islands as well as friends we met along the way.

Ferry ride from Kuala Besut Jetty and view of the beach as we reached Perhentian Kecil Jetty,

Getting ready for snorkeling with our flippers and scuba diving masks, a swiss and dutch couple (M&M) who also joined us on our snorkeling outing, we got to see loads of beautiful corals, colorful fishes, sharks and turtles along our boat ride and while snorkeling,

One of the stops we made just to play some water sports, a sup-ed up version of water polo,

On to romantic beach where we spent about an hour plus just resting, burying Sean in the sand and getting to  know our new friend Laila Bonnefoy from France.

I really had a great time at this lovely island, with the water so blue, friendly people, good food and great company and an awesome boatman/guide Mr Azhar who took us around for snorkeling and showed us the sights and sounds of this wonderful island in Malaysia. I will definitely go back for a visit to this island real soon! This Is a Great Travel Destination for people looking to relax, unwind and enjoy the island life.
